Ms. Black received her P.A. training at Stanford University, one of the few programs in the nation that trains both physician assistants and nurse practitioners in the same classroom.
Working under the license and supervision of medical doctors physician assistants are able to provide a full complement of services for their patients including diagnosis, assessment, treatment and ongoing management of their medical problems.
Ms. Black is also a licensed acupuncturist trained both in Japan and at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco. She currently provides P.A. services at Baechtel Creek Medical Clinic and relocated from the Bay Area 5 years ago where she worked in Orinda, California with six internists at East Bay Internal Medicine. Prior to that she worked as both P.A./acupuncturist for Native American Health Center in Oakland and with a private group practice at Davies Medical Center in San Francisco which focused on HIV and immune-related disorders.
Kate Black was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and moved to the S.F. Bay area in 1979. Her undergraduate degree includes a focus in both music education and health sciences. Since the age of 13 she has studied both guitar and voice and enjoys cycling and hiking.
She is a community-oriented provider who strives to provide top quality comprehensive healthcare management to patients from toddlers to grandparents.
