3 Annual Walks are scheduled in the Winter, Spring, and Fall of the year. In addition people can walk whenever they would like to get outdoors, see the community in a new way, and connect with family, friends, and neighbors.
Sponsored by a team of health-care practitioners with many years of experience.
The core of the WHAT experience is a 10,000 step (approximately 5 mile) walk through Willits that goes through the neighborhoods. Anyone can walk it at any time. Maps are available at the Willits Chamber of Commerce.
Who’s Behind the Walk:
The walk was developed by a group of local citizens, the Willits Health Action Team (WHAT), who are committed to improving the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual health of Willits
Our planning for the next big walk on March 21, 2010 (in conjunction with Green Week in Willits Hometown Celebration) is in full swing.
We will begin registering people at 9:15 and the walk will start at 10:00 AM on Sunday, March 21, 2010.
Our most dedicated walker, Ab Liggett, who walked in all 6 previous walks, will be honored (Ab died recently at age 97). There will be a ceremony following the walk at 1:00 PM. All are invited (details in future mailings).
Other special activities will be planned along the walk route.
We will also have a booth at the Downtown "Green Party", Friday, March 19-- 4 PM to 8 PM.
Here's what you can do to be part of this wonderful experience:
1. Put the walk on the calendar. Plan to walk and tell your friends and neighbors.
2. Help out the day of the walk (We always need some help registering and marking the cards of walkers.
3. Help us be at the booth on Friday, March 19. Take a shift between 4 PM and 8 PM.
4. Join us at the next planning meeting, Monday, March 15, 2010, 10 AM at the WAG office.
